What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® is a clear, non-toxic solution of 32.5% high-purity urea in de-ionised water, used by diesel engines with SCR (selective catalytic reduction) to turn harmful NOx into nitrogen and water. It is also called AUS 32 or DEF.

Is AdBlue® the same as DEF or AUS 32?

Yes. DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and AUS 32 are the generic names. AdBlue® is the registered trademark of the VDA, and only licensed manufacturers — like Liquidia, licence No. 0005569 — may sell under that name.

Do I need AdBlue®?

If your diesel vehicle or machine has an SCR system (most made from around 2015, Euro 5/6), yes — it won't run correctly without it and may go into limp mode or refuse to start.

How much AdBlue® does a vehicle use?

Roughly 3–6% of diesel use. A heavy truck uses about 1.5–1.75 litres per 100 km; a car or ute about 1–1.5 litres per 1,000 km. Try our usage calculator.

How much does AdBlue® cost per litre?

Our published prices run from $1.95/L (10 L drum) to $0.88/L (210 L drum) ex GST, with IBCs from $0.89/L. See the price list.

What is the shelf life?

Typically 12–18 months stored sealed between −11°C and 30°C, out of direct sun. Heat shortens it; keep drums in the shade.

Can AdBlue® freeze?

Yes, at about −11°C, but it thaws with no loss of quality. Vehicle systems are designed to handle this.

What happens if AdBlue® is contaminated or off-spec?

It can damage the SCR catalyst and injectors — often an expensive repair. Always use ISO 22241, VDA-licensed product and clean, dedicated equipment.

What do ISO 22241 and the VDA licence mean?

ISO 22241 is the international quality standard for AdBlue®. The VDA licence means an independent auditor checks the manufacturer's production and quality control. Liquidia holds both and lab-tests every batch.

Can I get a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes — every batch is tested and a Certificate of Analysis is available on request. Sample documents are on our Resources page.

What sizes do you sell?

10 L, 15 L and 20 L drums with pouring spout, 210 L drums, 1,000 L IBCs (steel or timber base) and bulk tanker deliveries from 1,000 to 32,000 L.

Do I have to buy a full pallet?

Our 10, 15 and 20 L website prices are per drum on a full pallet (75, 48 and 48 drums). Single drums are available — call for a price. 210 L drums and IBCs are the same price for one or more.

Where can I pick up?

Ex Works from Fairfield East (Sydney), Brisbane and Brooklyn (Melbourne). Perth stock is at Kwinana Beach. See Locations.

Do you deliver?

Yes, Australia-wide. Tell us your suburb and quantity and we'll quote delivery from the nearest centre.

How do I pay?

We confirm your order and invoice you — there's no online card payment. Regular customers can open a trade account.

Can you set up an on-site tank?

Yes — we supply and install tanks with dispensing, remote tank-level monitoring, tank lease and scheduled refills. See Bulk & On-site.

What is demineralised water used for, and is it the same as distilled?

Demineralised water has the dissolved minerals removed, making it ideal for topping up batteries and mixing coolant. Distilled water is made by boiling and condensing; for these uses both work, but demineralised is usually better value in bulk.
