Adelaide summers regularly push past 35 °C, heatwaves can run above 40 °C, and inland areas such as the Riverland and Port Augusta run hotter again. Heat is the main thing that shortens AdBlue® life in SA.
AdBlue® slowly breaks down when it is warm, giving off ammonia and losing urea concentration. ISO 22241-3 guidance on shelf life by storage temperature is:
| Storage temperature | Expected shelf life |
|---|---|
| At or below 25 °C | About 18 months |
| At or below 30 °C | About 12 months |
| At or below 35 °C | About 6 months |
| Above 35 °C | Test before use |

Usage spikes at seeding and harvest when headers, tractors and trucks all run long days. Stock up with 210 L drums or an IBC before the season starts rather than running to town mid-harvest. Tell us your timing and we can plan the delivery.
Newer vineyard tractors, forklifts and delivery trucks use modest volumes. 10 L, 15 L or 20 L drums are easy to handle and get used before they age. Move to a 210 L drum and hand pump once usage is steady.
Interstate operators on the Melbourne and Stuart Highway runs use enough to justify a 1,000 L IBC with a pump, or an on-site tank with scheduled refills. See bulk and on-site supply.
A prime mover doing two Adelaide–Melbourne return trips a week covers roughly 2,900 km. At 50 L/100 km that's about 1,450 L of diesel. At a typical AdBlue® dose of 3–6% of diesel, it uses about 45–90 L of AdBlue® a week, or 180–360 L a month. Five trucks like that get through an IBC or more a month. Run your own numbers in the usage calculator.
Adelaide is supplied from our Melbourne (Brooklyn) stock and our Sydney site. Adelaide to Melbourne is about 730 km by road, so the cost difference between pack sizes matters more here than it does next door to one of our sites.
On our Ex Works prices, 20 L drums on a pallet work out at about $1.58 a litre. A 1,000 L IBC is $0.89 a litre on a timber base. Delivery is quoted to your suburb on top of either, and fewer, larger packs usually cost less to move per litre.
Seals and caps intact. Batch number on the label. Container clean with no cracks or leaks. IBC cage and base undamaged. Ask for the Certificate of Analysis for your batch if you need it for your records.

It depends on how hot the storage gets. ISO 22241-3 guidance is about 12 months at or below 30 °C and about 6 months at or below 35 °C. If your shed regularly runs above 35 °C, keep stock turning over quickly and test anything that has sat through a hot summer before you use it.
