The Gold Coast's long, humid summers are the main thing that shortens AdBlue® life here. Frost is not a concern on the coast, but heat inside a closed container, a site shed or a truck cab is.
AdBlue® keeps for about 18 months at or below 25 °C, 12 months at or below 30 °C and only about 6 months at or below 35 °C. A 20 L drum left on the tray of a ute in a Coomera or Yatala car park in January can easily sit above 35 °C for hours. At that temperature the urea starts to break down, releasing ammonia and dropping the concentration below spec.
More detail is in our guide to AdBlue® storage in an Australian summer.
AdBlue® use on the Gold Coast is spread across a lot of mid-sized operators rather than a few very large ones. That changes which pack size makes sense.
A tipper doing 800 km a week at about 40 L/100 km burns around 320 L of diesel, so roughly 10–19 L of AdBlue® a week. That is about one 20 L drum per truck per week. Once you have three or four trucks, a 1,000 L IBC at the yard is usually better value and less handling.
A coach doing 1,500 km a week at about 35 L/100 km uses around 525 L of diesel, or roughly 16–32 L of AdBlue®. A depot running ten coaches can go through 160–320 L a week, which is where a bulk tank with scheduled refills starts to pay off.
Workboats, ferries and boatyard plant with SCR systems often top up from 10 L or 15 L drums because they are easier to carry on board. Keep marine stock sealed and out of salt spray, and never decant into brass or galvanised containers.
You can run your own numbers with the usage calculator.
Gold Coast supply comes from our Brisbane site at Rocklea, about 80 km up the M1 Pacific Motorway. There are two ways to buy AdBlue®:
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| Ex Works pickup at Rocklea | Operators already running trucks into Brisbane who can back-load a pallet or IBC on the way home |
| Delivered to your site | Yards, depots and project sites from the Tweed to the northern growth corridor. Delivery is quoted to your suburb, and regular runs can be arranged |
| Bulk tanker and on-site tank | Depots using several IBCs a month. Tanker loads from 1,000 L to 32,000 L, with tank-level monitoring and scheduled refills (see bulk and on-site) |
Delivery is always quoted to the suburb. The prices above are Ex Works, ex GST.
Yes. Delivery to the Gold Coast and Tweed is quoted to your suburb and quantity, supplied from our Brisbane site at Rocklea.
Yes. Liquidia holds VDA AdBlue® licence No. 0005569 and every batch is tested to ISO 22241.
Single drums are available (call for a price), and 210 L drums and IBCs are the same price for one or more.
Only for short periods. In summer a closed ute tray or cab can sit well above 35 °C, and at that temperature AdBlue breaks down faster and loses concentration. Store drums in a shaded, ventilated place and take out what you need for the day.
Yes. Tweed sites are supplied from our Brisbane site at Rocklea in the same way as the Gold Coast, with delivery quoted to your suburb.
Yes, but keep it sealed and away from salt spray, and use only polyethylene, polypropylene or stainless steel containers and fittings. AdBlue attacks brass, copper, zinc and aluminium, which are common on boats.
As a rough guide, once your depot is using more than one or two IBCs a month, a bulk tank with scheduled refills is worth pricing. Call us with your weekly usage and we'll compare the options.
Call us with the website price and we'll book it in — or send an enquiry and we'll usually reply the same day.
