Kalgoorlie summers regularly run past 35 °C, and stock stored in a steel shed or sea container gets hotter still. Add fine red dust to that, and the Goldfields is one of the harder places in Australia to keep AdBlue® in spec.
ISO 22241-3 guidance gives about 12 months at or below 30 °C, about 6 months at or below 35 °C, and says to test anything stored above 35 °C before use. Many Goldfields stores sit at the hot end of that range through summer.
Every time a drum or IBC is opened on a dusty pad, fine particles can get in. Keep caps on, use an IBC cover, wipe nozzles before use, and fit an inline filter on any pump that feeds vehicles.
A ventilated, roofed store is best, not a closed sea container in the sun. Keep containers off bare steel decks and away from diesel and oil. Use polyethylene, polypropylene or stainless steel fittings, never brass or mild steel.
If stock has sat through a summer, send us a sample for a free basic check before it goes into a haul truck or loader. Off-spec AdBlue® can cause SCR faults, derate and damage to injectors or catalysts.
Kalgoorlie is about 600 km east of Perth on the Great Eastern Highway, and outlying mines and exploration camps are further out again. Running out is expensive: without AdBlue®, engines derate into limp mode. But over-ordering in the heat means paying for stock that ages before it's used.
