The Riverina AdBlue® year

In the Riverina, AdBlue® use follows the cropping calendar. Buying to suit each season, not one large order a year, keeps stock fresh and money out of the shed.

Summer is both the busiest period and the hardest on stock. Riverina days above 35 °C are common, and at or below 35 °C AdBlue® keeps only about 6 months. Anything stored hotter should be tested before use. Order harvest AdBlue® close to harvest, keep it shaded, and use it up before the next summer. If you have old stock of unknown age, send it in for our free basic check.

Livestock and freight: steady AdBlue® use all year

Unlike cropping, livestock carting and freight run all year. Wagga's saleyards draw carriers from right across southern NSW. The Sturt Highway runs through the city, the Olympic Highway links it to Albury and Cowra, and the Hume Highway runs to the east. Food processors and freight depots around Bomen add more heavy vehicles that come back to base every night.

A worked example: livestock carrier

A B-double livestock crate does about 3,000 km a week at around 55 L/100 km. That's roughly 1,650 L of diesel, so about 50–100 L of AdBlue® a week. A carrier running four of these uses about 200–400 L a week, or 800–1,600 L a month. At that level, one or two IBCs a month on a pump, or a 5,000 L tank with scheduled deliveries, costs less per litre than 20 L drums. It also means drivers aren't lifting drums at 4 am.

Small farm

One newer tractor and a ute: 20 L drums, or a 210 L drum with a hand pump for the shed.

Cropping enterprise

Header, tractors and a truck: IBCs, with a 12 V pump kit that can go on a trailer to the paddock.

Carrier or depot

Several trucks every day: a bunded bulk tank with level monitoring and scheduled refills.

It depends on volume. A carrier using a few hundred litres a week usually pays less per litre with IBCs on a pump or a bulk tank than with 20 L drums. Call us with your weekly kilometres and we'll compare the options.

Can you deliver to farms outside Wagga, such as Junee or Temora?
